Emergency personnel were pressed into action on Election Day after gunfire erupted in Rich Fond, Dennery, leaving one man wounded in the presence of police officers.
According to the Saint Lucia Fire Service, the call came in shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday. Responders arrived to find an adult male seated and suffering from two penetrating wounds to the back of his calves. Firefighters provided immediate on-site medical care before transporting him to a medical facility for continued treatment, in keeping with standard trauma protocols.
The incident occurred less than 36 hours after another violent episode in Grand Ravine, where emergency teams responded at 2:04 a.m. Sunday to reports of a man found lying on the ground with a serious chest injury.
“An assessment revealed a penetrating wound to the right side of the chest,” officials confirmed. First responders stabilised the victim before transferring him to a nearby medical facility for urgent care.
Police have not released additional details on either shooting, and investigations into both incidents remain ongoing.
